Notes
TodoTicked Notes is a powerful way to capture and organize information beyond simple tasks.
What are Notes?
Notes are rich text documents that live alongside your tasks. Use them for:
- Meeting notes
- Project documentation
- Ideas and brainstorms
- Reference information
- Personal journaling
- Lists and outlines
Creating Notes
From the Sidebar
- Click Notes in the sidebar
- Click New Note or press
N - Start typing
From a Project
- Open a project
- Click Add note in the project header
- The note is linked to that project
Quick Capture
Press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + N from anywhere to create a new note.
Writing in Notes
Rich Text Editor
Notes support full rich text:
- Bold (

Headings
Organize with headings:

Or use the formatting toolbar.
Lists
Create organized lists:
Bullet lists:

Numbered lists:

Checklists:
- Unchecked item
- Checked item
Checklists work great for meeting action items!

Organize data:

Images
Add images to notes:
- Drag and drop
- Copy and paste
- Click insert image
Images are stored securely in your account.
Organizing Notes
Folders
Group related notes:
- Click New Folder in Notes
- Name your folder
- Drag notes into folders
Folders can be nested for complex organization.
Tags
Add tags to notes:
- Open a note
- Click Add tag
- Select or create tags
Find notes by tag using the tag filter.
Favorites
Star important notes:
- Click the star icon
- Favorites appear at the top
- Quick access to key information
Search
Find any note:
- Press
/or click search - Type your search term
- Results show matching notes
- Click to open
Search looks in:
- Note titles
- Note content
- Tags
Note Encryption (Pro)
Keep sensitive notes private with end-to-end encryption.
Enabling Encryption
- Go to Settings → Security
- Enable Note Encryption
- Set your encryption passphrase
- Remember it - we cannot recover it!
Encrypted Notes
Create encrypted notes:
- Create a new note
- Click the lock icon
- Enter your passphrase
- Note is now encrypted
Encrypted notes:
- Are unreadable without passphrase
- Cannot be searched (content is encrypted)
- Show a lock icon
- Sync securely across devices
Linking Notes and Tasks
Link to a Task
Reference tasks in notes:
- Type
@followed by task name - Select the task
- A clickable link is created
Link to a Note
Reference other notes:
- Type
[[followed by note name - Select the note
- Create a bidirectional link
Tasks in Notes
Create tasks directly from notes:
- Type
- [ ]to create a checklist - These sync as tasks if enabled
- Complete in notes or task list
Sharing Notes
Share Link
Create a public link:
- Open the note
- Click Share
- Enable Public link
- Copy and share the URL
Recipients can view without an account.
Share with Team
For team workspaces:
- Open the note
- Click Share
- Select team members
- Choose permission level:
- View only
- Can edit
- Full access

Using Templates
Start faster with templates:
- Click New Note
- Select From template
- Choose a template:
- Meeting notes
- Project plan
- Daily journal
- Weekly review
Creating Templates
Save your own templates:
- Create a note with your structure
- Click Save as template
- Name your template
- Use it for future notes
Export and Import
Export Notes
Export individual notes:
- Open the note
- Click menu → Export
- Choose format:
- Markdown (.md)
- HTML
- Plain text
Import Notes
Import from other apps:
- Go to Settings → Import
- Select Notes
- Upload files:
- Markdown files
- Text files
- HTML files
