Navigating TodoTicked

This guide will help you understand the TodoTicked interface and find your way around quickly.

Main Layout

TodoTicked's interface is divided into three main areas:

Sidebar (Left)

The sidebar contains:

  • Inbox - Unsorted tasks land here
  • Today - Tasks due today
  • Upcoming - Tasks with future due dates
  • Projects - Your project list
  • Tags - Quick access to tags
  • Teams - Team workspaces (if enabled)

You can collapse the sidebar by clicking the hamburger menu or pressing M.

Main View (Center)

This is where you see and interact with your tasks. It changes based on what you select:

  • Task lists for projects and filters
  • Task details when you click a task
  • Settings and preferences pages
  • Calendar and timeline views

Task Panel (Right)

When you click a task, a detail panel opens showing:

  • Task title and description
  • Due date and time
  • Priority and tags
  • Subtasks
  • Comments and attachments
  • Activity history

Key Views

Inbox

Your default landing spot. New tasks without a project go here.

  • Review and organize regularly
  • Drag tasks to projects
  • Use as a quick capture spot

Today View

Shows everything due today:

  • Overdue tasks (in red)
  • Tasks due today
  • Completed today (toggle to show)

This is perfect for daily planning.

Upcoming View

A calendar-like view showing:

  • Tasks organized by due date
  • Overdue section at top
  • Click dates to see tasks
  • Drag tasks to reschedule

Projects

Each project has its own view with:

  • Project-specific tasks
  • Sections for organization
  • Project settings and sharing
  • Progress indicators

Navigation Shortcuts

Speed up navigation with these shortcuts:

Search

Find anything quickly:

  1. Press / or click the search bar
  2. Type your search term
  3. Results appear instantly
  4. Click a result to navigate

Search finds:

  • Task titles and descriptions
  • Project names
  • Tag names
  • Comments

Quick Actions

Access common actions from anywhere:

Command Menu

Press Cmd/Ctrl + K to open the command menu:

  • Quick add task
  • Navigate to views
  • Change settings
  • Access any feature

Right-Click Menu

Right-click on tasks, projects, or tags for context actions:

  • Edit, delete, duplicate
  • Move to project
  • Set priority and due date
  • Copy link

Customizing Your View

Theme

Switch between light and dark mode:

  1. Click your avatar (bottom left)
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Choose Light, Dark, or System

Sidebar Order

Reorder sidebar items:

  1. Drag projects to reorder
  2. Create folders to group projects
  3. Star important projects for quick access

Default View

Set your preferred starting view:

  1. Go to Settings → Preferences
  2. Under Default View, choose:
    • Inbox
    • Today
    • Upcoming
    • A specific project

Mobile Navigation

On mobile devices:

  • Swipe right to open sidebar
  • Swipe left on tasks for quick actions
  • Tap to select, long press for menu
  • Use the bottom navigation for main views
