Creating Your First Task

Tasks are the heart of TodoTicked. Here's everything you need to know to create and manage your tasks effectively.

Quick Add Task

The fastest way to create a task:

  1. Click the + Add Task button or press Q on your keyboard
  2. Type your task title
  3. Press Enter to save

That's it! Your task is now in your Inbox, ready to be organized.

Adding Task Details

For more detailed tasks, you can add:

Due Date

Set when the task should be completed:

  • Click the calendar icon or type a date naturally
  • Examples: "tomorrow", "next Monday", "Jan 15"
  • TodoTicked understands natural language dates!

Priority

Mark important tasks with priority levels:

  • P1 (Red) - Urgent and important
  • P2 (Orange) - Important but not urgent
  • P3 (Blue) - Nice to have
  • P4 (Default) - No specific priority

Click the flag icon or type !1, !2, or !3 while creating a task.

Tags

Organize tasks with tags:

  • Click the tag icon to add existing tags
  • Type #tagname to create and assign a tag
  • Use multiple tags for better organization

Project

Assign tasks to specific projects:

  • Click the project dropdown to choose a project
  • Type #ProjectName to quickly assign
  • Leave empty to keep in Inbox

Smart Task Entry

TodoTicked understands natural language. Try typing:

  • "Buy groceries tomorrow at 5pm #shopping !2"
  • "Call mom every Sunday"
  • "Finish report by Friday #work"

The app automatically parses:

  • Due dates and times
  • Recurring schedules
  • Tags
  • Priority levels
  • Project assignments

Task Actions

Once created, you can:

Subtasks

Break down complex tasks:

  1. Open a task by clicking it
  2. Click Add subtask or press Tab while editing
  3. Add your subtask
  4. Repeat for more subtasks

Subtasks help you:

  • Break large tasks into manageable steps
  • Track progress on complex projects
  • Stay motivated with small wins

Task Comments

Add notes or updates to tasks:

  1. Click a task to open it
  2. Scroll to the Comments section
  3. Type your comment
  4. Press Enter to save

Comments are great for:

  • Adding context to tasks
  • Tracking progress updates
  • Collaborating with team members
