Sync Issues

Having trouble with data not syncing? Here's how to fix it.

Quick Fixes

Try these first:

  1. Check internet connection - Ensure you're online
  2. Pull to refresh - On mobile, pull down to sync
  3. Press R - On desktop, refresh the view
  4. Wait a moment - Large syncs can take time

Sync Status Indicator

Look for the sync icon:

  • Green check - All synced
  • 🔄 Spinning - Syncing now
  • ⚠️ Yellow warning - Sync pending
  • Red X - Sync error

Common Issues

Data Not Appearing on Other Devices

  1. Ensure you're signed into same account
  2. Check sync status on both devices
  3. Force sync: pull down or press R
  4. Wait 30 seconds and check again

Changes Not Saving

  1. Check internet connection
  2. Look for error messages
  3. Try refreshing the page
  4. Sign out and back in

Duplicate Tasks

If you see duplicates:

  1. Don't delete yet - may merge
  2. Wait for sync to complete
  3. If persists, delete the extra
  4. Contact support if recurring

Old Data Showing

Clear cached data:

  1. Sign out of TodoTicked
  2. Clear browser cache (web)
  3. Or reinstall app (mobile)
  4. Sign back in

Manual Sync

Force a sync:

Web:

  • Press R to refresh
  • Or click the sync icon

Mobile:

  • Pull down to refresh
  • Or tap sync icon in header

Desktop:

  • Press Cmd/Ctrl + R
  • Or File → Sync Now

Offline Changes

If you made changes offline:

  1. Go online
  2. Open TodoTicked
  3. Changes sync automatically
  4. Check for conflict notifications

Account Issues

Wrong Account

Make sure you're signed into the correct account:

  1. Click your avatar
  2. Check the email shown
  3. If wrong, sign out
  4. Sign into correct account

Multiple Accounts

If you have multiple accounts:

  • Data doesn't sync between accounts
  • Use the same account everywhere
  • Consider merging accounts (contact support)

Clearing Sync Problems

Hard Refresh

Web browser:

  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R
  • Or clear cache for todoticked.com

Desktop app:

  • Help → Clear Cache
  • Restart the app

Mobile:

  • Delete and reinstall
  • Sign back in

Reset Sync

As a last resort:

  1. Go to Settings → Advanced
  2. Click Reset sync
  3. Confirm the reset
  4. All data re-syncs from server

When to Contact Support

Contact us if:

  • Sync issues persist after trying fixes
  • Data appears corrupted
  • You see error messages
  • Important data is missing

Include:

  • What you tried
  • Error messages (screenshots help)
  • Devices affected
  • When it started

Prevention

Keep sync working smoothly:

  • Stay signed in
  • Keep apps updated
  • Maintain stable internet
  • Don't force-quit during sync
