Notification Issues

Fix problems with reminders and notifications not appearing.

Quick Checklist

  1. ✅ Notifications enabled in TodoTicked settings
  2. ✅ Notifications allowed in device/browser settings
  3. ✅ Do Not Disturb is off
  4. ✅ App has background permissions
  5. ✅ You're signed in

Enable Notifications

In TodoTicked

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Enable Push notifications
  3. Enable specific notification types:
    • Due date reminders
    • Task assignments
    • Comments
    • Team updates

Browser Notifications

Chrome:

  1. Click lock icon in address bar
  2. Find Notifications
  3. Set to Allow

Firefox:

  1. Click lock icon
  2. Click Connection secure
  3. More information
  4. Permissions → Notifications → Allow

Safari:

  1. Safari → Preferences
  2. Websites → Notifications
  3. Allow for todoticked.com

Mobile Notifications

iOS

  1. Settings → Notifications → TodoTicked
  2. Enable Allow Notifications
  3. Enable:
    • Lock Screen
    • Notification Center
    • Banners
  4. Set Alert style to Banners or Alerts

Android

  1. Settings → Apps → TodoTicked
  2. Tap Notifications
  3. Enable All notifications
  4. Check individual channels are enabled

Desktop App

macOS

  1. System Preferences → Notifications
  2. Find TodoTicked
  3. Enable Allow Notifications
  4. Set alert style

Windows

  1. Settings → System → Notifications
  2. Find TodoTicked
  3. Enable notifications
  4. Check priority settings

Do Not Disturb

Notifications won't appear if DND is on:

iOS: Check Control Center Android: Check Quick Settings Mac: Check menu bar Windows: Check action center

Background App Refresh

Apps need to run in background:

iOS:

  1. Settings → General → Background App Refresh
  2. Enable for TodoTicked

Android:

  1. Settings → Apps → TodoTicked
  2. Battery → Allow background activity

Specific Issues

No Sound

  1. Check device isn't on silent
  2. Check TodoTicked sound settings
  3. Check notification sound is set

Delayed Notifications

  1. Check battery optimization settings
  2. Ensure background refresh is enabled
  3. Keep app running (don't force quit)

Duplicate Notifications

  1. Check if signed in on multiple devices
  2. Review notification settings
  3. May need to sign out of extra sessions

Notifications Stopped Working

  1. Sign out and back in
  2. Toggle notifications off then on
  3. Reinstall the app
  4. Check for app updates

Testing Notifications

Verify notifications work:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Click Send test notification
  3. You should receive a test notification
  4. If not, check device settings

Email Notifications

For email notification issues:

  1. Check spam/junk folder
  2. Add noreply@todoticked.com to contacts
  3. Check email notification settings
  4. Verify email address is correct

When to Contact Support

Contact us if:

  • You've tried all troubleshooting steps
  • Notifications work on some devices but not others
  • You're missing important reminders
  • Settings don't save
